 Abstract:  The Saturn Corporation was a subsidiary automobile manufacturer of General Motors that operated from 1985 until 2010. The EV1 was an electric vehicle developed by General Motors in response to California laws requiring a certain percentage of vehicles sold to emit no pollutants. Although marketed as a General Motors product, the EV1 was only available through Saturn lease agreements in California and Arizona. In 2001, General Motors announced that EV1 production would cease, and all vehicles were recalled once their leases ended. This collection contains a complete set of 12 repair manuals and a copy of the owner's manual, which were distributed by the Saturn Corporation.

The subseries holds material documenting the celebration of Ford Motor Company's seventy-fifth anniversary including news releases; press packets; interoffice correspondence; Ford and non-Ford publications; photographs of Ford Motor Company plants around the world, Ford products, Ford family members, and others; newspaper clipping books; 16mm film footage and audio tape coverage of the seventy-fifth anniversary celebration at Greenfield Village; news articles of seventy-fifth anniversary activities in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Mexico, Netherlands, Uruguay, and Venezuela, many which are in foreign languages; and a design drawing for the 1903 Model A Ford which was used to create official commemorative models.

 Abstract:  One pamphlet (copy) entitled "Sharon Hollow: Story of an Early Mulay Sawmill of Michigan" by Carl Addison Leech (Detroit). In 1929 Henry Ford had motion pictures taken of Mr. George Kirkwood operating the old saw (circa 1835) and making the "last cut". A letter from Mr. Kirkwood to Henry Ford (June 1934) is attached to the back cover of the pamphlet.

 Abstract:  The Shaw Papers consist primarily of letters written to Acenith Shaw in Moreville and York, Washtenaw County, Michigan. Acenith was a school girl of about fourteen in 1864. Many of the letters to her are from school friends and cousins who also lived in Michigan. The girls wrote of family activities, school, planned visits, and current interests. Some of the letters describe their arrangements for teaching school, and in time, marriages and children.

 Abstract:  The subseries contains executive speeches arranged alphabetically by the speakers last name and then chronologically. The bulk of the speeches were given by Ernest R. Breech, John S. Bugas, Lewis D. Crusoe, Benson Ford, William T. Gossett, Thomas R. Reid, and Walker A. Williams. Also included are copies of executive and departmental communications detailing the company speech clearance policies and procedures and lists of speeches given by company officers and executives from June 1949 to August 1962. The lists are arranged by year, month, day and last name of speaker and include the location and topic of the speech. Copies of many of the speeches on the lists are included in this or other accessions in the Speeches and Executive Correspondence series.

 Abstract:  Stanley Topel was an elementary and high school teacher from 1957 to 1994. Topel used audio-visual materials in his classroom to better engage students, and over the years, amassed a personal collection of equipment. Stanley Topel went on to earn a doctoral degree in education, writing a dissertation on the use of audio-visual materials in the classroom. The Stanley R. Topel Audio-Visual Education Collection contains receipts, warranty cards, equipment instructional manuals, 51 filmstrips, 7 reading script pamphlets that accompanied films, 2 audiocassettes to accompany films, two printed sermons, an oral interview on 2 DVDs and 2 VHS cassettes, and two copies of Topel's dissertation. The collection is open for research, however use of original films, audio and VHS cassettes, and DVDs is restricted. 1.3 cubic ft. (2 boxes).
