 Creator:  Brooks family
Abstract:  Harry Brooks, a noted test pilot from Southfield, Michigan, worked for the Stout Metal Airplane Division of the Ford Motor Company. In his time there, he primarily worked with the Ford Trimotor, performing its first night flight and even transporting Charles Lindbergh's mother to Mexico in 1927. In 1926, Brooks also tested the new Ford Flivver. 1928 witnessed Brooks making his second attempt setting a long distance flying record. He landed in Titusville, Florida, with a bent propeller, short of the record. The next day, after making the repairs himself, Harry Brooks left Titusville and circled over the Atlantic Ocean, where his plane went down off the coast of Melbourne, Florida, due to a technical malfunction. The Harry Brooks Sympathy Acknowledgement Card contains one piece of correspondence from the Brooks family thanking the members of the Rebekah Lodge, of Birmingham, Michigan, for the card they sent to the family.
