The drawings are organized sequentially and numbered 100 to 328. Sheet number 100 is an indexed list of drawings. The drawings were digitized in 2006 and digital versions are available on CD-ROM in box 4 of the accession.

 Abstract:  Rhea Mansfield Knittle was born in Ashland, Ohio, in 1883. Along with her husband Earl, she would scour the Ohio countryside looking for glass, pottery, silver, textiles, and other decorative arts antiques. Over the years, Rhea became an expert on early glass production, publishing her first magazine article in 1924 and continuing into the 1940s. The Rhea M. Knittle Collection contains research and notes on decorative arts, correspondence, photographic prints, nitrate and safety film photographic negatives, 11 glass plate negatives, approximately 20 metal plates used for printing blocks, and 55 printing blocks. The nitrate and safety film negatives are housed separately from the rest of the collection. Extent: 7.35 cubic ft. (15 boxes). The collection is open for research.

His collection reflects the nearly 150-year-old history of the diner business including their design, construction and operation, and consists of photographs, menus, drawings, periodicals, clippings and articles, ephemera, business records, trade catalogs and product literature, artwork, and film and sound recordings among other materials. A related book collection and many three-dimensional artifacts were also acquired along with the archival materials. This is an UNPROCESSED COLLECTION and has not yet been prepared for routine service. Researchers interested in access to unprocessed collections should contact Benson Ford Research Center staff to discuss collection availability.

 Abstract:  The Robertson papers are the lettera of Isaac and John Robertson to family members in Ohio. They were sent from various military camps of the Union Army during the Civil War and describe some of the battles in which the brothers participated. Included in the collection is a letter informing Mrs. Robertson that the effects of John, deceased, had been shipped from the hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Another letter accompanied pension forms from the Ohio Military Claim office. Of particular interest are the patriotic motifs on some of the stationery.
