 Abstract:  John Chesnut was a colonel in the Revolutionary War who resided in Camden, South Carolina. Mr. Chesnut became the owner of the Mulberry Plantation just outside Camden and the property was passed down to one of his sons, James, a United States Senator before the Civil War. Included in the collection are records of business transactions, bills and receipts, and legal documents, such as wills and land indentures.

 Abstract:  James E. Lewis, Sr., collected this group of road maps of the United States and Canada in the middle to late 20th Century. The maps illustrate the changing landscape of the country, with the addition of the interstate highway system, and the ability of Americans to travel by automobile to visit far-off places. This collection contains 82 folded road and street maps, from 27 states (Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin), 17 cities, Washington, D.C., and the Canadian province of Manitoba.

 Abstract:  The Henry Ford, Edsel Ford, and Thomas Edison Related Audio Recordings contains two audiocassettes, with two reproduced recordings on each, from the Vincent Voice Library at Michigan State University. The first cassette contains a speech by Henry Ford while he was campaigning for Herbert Hoover in 1932, in which Hoover is compared to Abraham Lincoln, and Edsel Ford predicting a good sales year for Ford cars in 1934-1935. The second audiocassette features Thomas Edison delivering a speech at Light's Golden Jubilee in Greenfield Village in 1929 and an undated speech in when Henry Ford praises McGuffey Readers and William Holmes McGuffey. The collection also includes printouts from the MSU Libraries catalog describing each recording. Extent: 0.2 cubic ft. (1 box). The collection is open for research and use copies of the recordings are available.

 Abstract:  Bruce Licher studied the letterpress printing process at the Women's Graphic Center in Los Angeles in 1982. Using these skills, he was able to create promotional materials and album packing for his band, Savage Republic, as well as other bands in the Los Angeles area. He later started Independent Project Press and Independent Project Records, both utilizing his letterpress skills to create artistic media packaging, stationery and cards, wine labels, book and magazine covers, and promotional postcards and posters. This collection contains five holiday and celebration cards, one wine label, four stamps books and sheets, five exhibition cards, one paperstock sample, seven business card samples, eight record sleeves (two for LPs, two for 10", and four for 7"), and four CD sleeves.
