 Abstract:  The Lawrence E. Bachman Home Movies contains one reel of 16mm that documents family vacations in California and other areas of the American west. Footage includes shots of Disneyland in Anaheim, California, featuring Mickey Mouse, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and a train; Marineland in Los Angeles; a dam, possibly the Hoover and/or Grand Coulee dams; another theme park with women in period gowns; and ocean and city scenes. Originally, the home movies were contained on 7 individual reels, but were combined onto one reel at some point.

3Title:  Irving R. Bacon Scrapbook, 1919

 Abstract:  Irving R. Bacon was an artist from Fitchburg, Massachusetts. After completing art school in Detroit, he worked as an illustrator for the Detroit Evening News and the Detroit Free Press. After leaving Detroit for a while, he returned and began working for Henry Ford, first at his newspapers and later at the Ford Motor Company, painting scenes and portraits for the museum and scenery for the museum's theater. In 1919, Henry Ford sued the Chicago Tribune for libel over comments they made about him. The ensuing trial occurred in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, with Ford being awarded 6 cents in compensation. During this trial, it appears that Irving Bacon was present in the courtroom and created sketches of the event. The Irving R. Bacon Scrapbook contains 65 sketches of assorted individuals participating in the trial, including the judge, attorneys, witnesses, and jurors. Also included are some photocopies of certain sketches. 0.3 cubic ft. (1 box).

 Abstract:  Theorem painting is an traditional American folk art technique, popular in the 1800s, in which stencils are used to paint on fabric. Margaret Jane Barton, an artist from Owosso, Michigan, began selling her own theorem paintings in 1975. Soon after, she was contracted by The Henry Ford to copy paintings found in the museum collections and produce new ones that were sold in the gift shop. This collection contains six large and six small stencils and accompanying photographs, correspondence, purchase orders, tax information, clippings, a book on theorem painting, two packets of stencils produced by Summer Kitchen Studios, notes, sales records, and two small theorem paintings.

 Abstract:  William K. Bondesen of Houston, Texas, purchased a new Ford Thunderbird in 1962. Ford Motor Company later sent him a packet of materials, enclosed in a gold-color mailing tube. This collection contains that mailing tube as well as the contents, which include a letter of thanks signed by Lee Iacocca, a scroll in recognition of his purchase, and a wallet card inscribed with Bondesen's name and the car's serial number that was to be presented to be assured of preferred service from Ford dealers.

 Abstract:  James and Ann Bradbury both worked at the Ford Rouge Plant Steel Mill, James as a metallurgist and Ann as a chemist. Retiring around 1985 and 1980, respectively, they witnessed many changes at the plant during their tenures. The James and Ann Bradbury Ford Motor Company Plant Photographs contains photographs commissioned by Ford Motor Company to document various plant construction projects from the 1930s to 1973. It contains 152 linen-backed photographs illustrating construction sites of Ford locations, a series on the construction of an electric furnace (project no. 10763), and a series on Rolling Mill Shipping (project no. 10764). The collection contain 37 additional photographic prints not associated with specific projects and a 1971 newspaper clipping. 0.5 cubic ft.(1 box).

 Abstract:  James H. Burris was a tin and sheet iron worker in Baltimore, Maryland. He did pump and lamp work, and created punched tin pieces and supplies for fruit, oyster, and crab packers. These supplies included colanders, skimmers, cups, pots, and measures. The James H. Burris Papers contains four folders of correspondence, a lock of hair, two canning recipe books with notes by Elizabeth Burris, illustrations by J.H. Burris, assorted recipes for bar cleaning fluids, and photographs of Burris, his employees, and products they produced. 0.25 cubic ft. (1 box).

The Correspondence series is comprised of family, professional, and social correspondence. The Personal Interests series details Butler's amateur cinematography and editing processes, along with drafts of papers, speeches, and clippings. The Greeting Cards series is a collection of cards and notes sent to Butler and his family. The Film and Audio series contains mainly family related footage such as holiday gatherings and vacations, along with some business related footage. Also included are clips of circus performances, nature and wildlife.
