This collection includes advertisements, trade and retail catalogs, reports, magazine articles, trade cards, cartoons, greeting cards, leaflets, pamphlets, cooking information, and museum signage all related to toasters or the museum.

 Abstract:  The Hewlett-Packard Company produced the 95LX as their first personal digital assistant. Around the size of a large pocket calculator, the 95LX contained a calculator, telephone and address program, a text editor, and the ability to transfer data to a desktop computer. This collection contains 3 manuals that accompanied the 95LX: the Quick Start Guide, the Connectivity Pack, and the User's Guide.

 Abstract:  Delco, or Dayton Engineering Laboratories, Co., was founded in 1909 by Edwards Deeds and Charles Kettering in Dayton, Ohio. Their first major project was ignition sets for Cadillac, which were installed on that company's 1912 production models. Delco also manufactured other automobile parts, and even De Havilland bombers and Liberty aircraft engines during World War I. In 1918, General Motors acquired Delco and other parts companies, later merging Delco with its AC spark plug division to form ACDelco. The Delphi Delco Records contain a small selection of business records related to Delco, General Motors, the North East Electric Company, and the Dayton Wright Airplane Co. The collection also includes photographic prints and albums, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, annual reports, handbooks, and press releases. These materials depict factory operations, employees and events, wartime production, and equipment. Of note are copies of "The Book of Delco" and a 1919 copy of Delco's "Aviation Ignition."

 Abstract:  The Watts Campbell Company was founded in 1851 in Newark, New Jersey, by William Watts and Zachariah Belcher. By 1865, Belcher withdrew from the company, and Daniel T. Campbell became a partner. The company specialized in the production of stationary steam engines until the 1930s, then changed their focus to repair and maintenance until the 1990s. The collection contains business records, correspondence, drawings, and ledgers relating to the company's operation. Extent: Approximately 546 cubic ft. (455 boxes and 140 volumes).  Abstract:  Curt Flood, an African-American Major League Baseball player, was traded by the Cincinnati Reds to the Philadelphia Phillies without his permission in 1969. Flood felt that the league's reserve clause in contracts violated federal laws and his rights, ultimately resulting in a suit against the league. Although Flood lost the suit, his efforts helped modify the reserve clause and inspired the 10/5 rule, which requires consent from certain players before trades. The Curt Flood Collection contains a copy of his lawsuit, correspondence regarding "The Baseball Network," signed photographs of St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres players, a signed 1967 Cardinals dinner program, a program from the 20th Annual NAACP Image Awards, and a 1968 edition of Sports Illustrated that featured Flood on the cover. 0.3 cubic ft.  Abstract:  John Warren Watson was the owner of the John Warren Watson Company in Philadelphia. He developed a Stabilator to be used to create a more comfortable ride in automobiles by slowing down the recoil of the car springs. Watson was also the original owner of the 1931 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Victoria that is currently in the collections of The Henry Ford (Object ID 62.9.2). The John Warren Watson Duesenberg and Stabilator Collection contains two automobile registrations for the Duesenberg, from 1931 and 1941; 3 photographic prints and 2 photographic slides of the vehicle; 7 pieces of Stabilator product literature; 3 Stabilator parts and service manuals; 5 photographic prints showing the Stabilator attached to a vehicle, as well as product advertising; and one photographic print of a 1904 Autocar. The collection is open for research. 0.2 cubic ft. (1 box).

 Abstract:  The Friden Justowriter was a justifying typesetting machine which served as a transitional phase between analog and digital in typesetting and publishing. In the late 1970s, Neil Simmons acquired one for use at his church. As computers became more popular, Simmons connected the Justowriter to an early notebook computer, where it could act as a printer. This collection contains a punched paper tape, punch cards, two Justowriter user manuals, a package of carbon paper, invoices, drawings of wiring schematics, and a genealogical record of the donor's great-grandfather which was printed on the Justowriter.

 Abstract:  Frederick Gibson Butler was a noted Oldsmobile designer employed at the Oldsmobile Research and Development Center in Lansing, Michigan. The papers and film primarily reflect Butler's personal interests in nature, the circus, the environment and family activities, with a smattering of business related material. There are four series. The Correspondence series is comprised of family, professional, and social correspondence. The Personal Interests series details Butler's amateur cinematography and editing processes, along with drafts of papers, speeches, and clippings. The Greeting Cards series is a collection of cards and notes sent to Butler and his family. The Film and Audio series contains mainly family related footage such as holiday gatherings and vacations, along with some business related footage. Also included are clips of circus performances, nature and wildlife.
