 Abstract:  Frank Armstrong worked as a salesman, traveling field representative, and New York branch manager for the Electric Vehicle Company during the company's most ambitious and unsuccessful attempt to establish a monopoly in the automobile industry and in the market for taxicab service in major American cities. The papers are comprised of both Armstrong's business and personal papers and consist of correspondence, meeting minutes, financial statements, stock issues and general accounting information related to his career in the electric vehicle industry at the beginning of the twentieth century. Also included are materials related to several lawsuits Armstrong was involved in, his military records, and a small number of blueprint reproductions of several electric vehicles.

 Abstract:  The Detroit, Toledo and Ironton Railroad extended from Ironton, Ohio to Detroit, Michigan and was nearly defunct when, in 1920, Henry Ford purchased controlling interest with the intent to reduce costs by creating a shorter shipping route and saving on shipping time. This subseries contains photographs of railroad operations, locomotives, factory operations, and construction and repair project, among many others.

 Abstract:  In the 1920s Ford Motor Company constructed what was at the time the worlds largest sawmill complex in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Iron Mountain plant supplied automobile body parts and wood patterns for the production of aircraft, ships, railroad cars, and mining trams. The photographs in this series serve to visually document Ford Motor Company production methods, as well as sawmill production, lumber manufacturing, and logging camp life.
