 Abstract:  Joseph Galamb was a key member of Ford Motor Company from 1905-1944. He played an important role in the design of the Model T and subsequent Ford vehicles. This small accession includes sketches, photostats, postcards and communication between Galamb, Henry Ford and Edsel Ford.

 Abstract:  P. J. Gaughan was a product planning executive in the Central Product Planning Office (CPPO) in the mid 1950s and early 1960s. During this time, the CPPO assembled a large collection of photographs, taken at various auto shows, which were used by the Ford Motor Company Car Product Planning Department to analyze the styling of competitor cars between 1951 and 1967.

 Abstract:  The collection consists of the corporate records of the Gebelein Silversmiths, Inc. of Boston, Massachusetts. The records span the company's entire stead in the Boston area, in addition to a few miscellaneous items after the company moved to Vermont with materials reflecting the daily operations of the small business from its inception to its final days as a silver shop. The collection includes correspondence, invoices, bookkeeping records, printed material, advertising, drawings, photographs, and some related artifactual material not covered in this description. NOTE: Pages 27, 31 and 32 are missing from the finding aid.

 Abstract:  The collection consists of a photograph album containing 32 pages of captioned snapshots along with several loose album pages, likely from the same album. It is assumed that Lelia Gibson took the photographs, assembled the album, and captioned the album pages. The snapshots, thought to date between 1919 and 1921, are primarily of various tourist spots along the Potomac River and in nearby areas of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Other locations include Florida, Yellowstone National Park, and Glacier National Park. The album also includes images of President Warren G. Harding's inauguration on the east portico of the U.S. Capital Building on March 4, 1921.

 Abstract:  A collection of 19 4x5 inch black-and-white prints of images taken by photographer Mack Gniewek following the death of Henry Ford in April 1947. The photographs were taken for the Detroit Times newspaper and primarily show Henry Ford lying in repose at Lovett Hall as well the line of mourners. Also included are images of black bunting and lowered flags displayed at the Ford Rouge Plant and the Dearborn Municipal Building.

 Abstract:  Joseph R. Grenier worked as a photographer for the Packard Motor Car Co. in Detroit, Michigan. This collection contains a large number of 8x10 black-and-white photographic prints and negatives documenting the Packard plant, automobile shows, assorted Packard automobiles including the Patrician and the Clipper, assorted automobile parts, testing in the plant and on the road, and firefighter drills performed at the plant. Also included are the December 1949 issue of the Packard News, two audiocassettes that contain an interview with Grenier made on 3 March 2003, six CD-ROMs containing digital images, and one unlabeled CD-ROM.

 Abstract:  Joseph C. Groff served as the captain of the M/S East Indian, an ocean-going hauler in the Ford Fleet. In 1926, the East Indian went on its first around-the-world voyage, taking automobile parts and completed automobiles to Southeast Asia and returning with a load of rubber. This collection contains 27 photographic prints taken of the ship and the journey, 1 exterior photograph of the Ford offices in Montevideo, Uruguay, 11 Engineer's Voyage Reports from the trip, and 5 drawings pertaining to the ship and its cargo.

 Abstract:  Often referred to as The Diner Man, Richard J. S. Gutman contributed his expertise and insight to virtually every published media piece on diners from the 1970s into the 2010s. His collection reflects the nearly 150-year-old history of the diner business including their design, construction and operation, and consists of photographs, menus, drawings, periodicals, clippings and articles, ephemera, business records, trade catalogs and product literature, artwork, and film and sound recordings among other materials. A related book collection and many three-dimensional artifacts were also acquired along with the archival materials. This is an UNPROCESSED COLLECTION and has not yet been prepared for routine service. Researchers interested in access to unprocessed collections should contact Benson Ford Research Center staff to discuss collection availability.
