The papers and film primarily reflect Butler's personal interests in nature, the circus, the environment and family activities, with a smattering of business related material. There are four series. The Correspondence series is comprised of family, professional, and social correspondence. The Personal Interests series details Butler's amateur cinematography and editing processes, along with drafts of papers, speeches, and clippings. The Greeting Cards series is a collection of cards and notes sent to Butler and his family. The Film and Audio series contains mainly family related footage such as holiday gatherings and vacations, along with some business related footage.
