 Abstract:  The L. D. Haggerty & Son Company was a brick manufacturing company begun at Michigan Avenue and Miller Road, Dearborn, Michigan in 1896. In 1936, the Haggerty powerhouse in Greenfield Village was patterned after the original brick yard facility and Henry Ford duplicated the Haggerty press, making bricks for Greenfield Village buildings in 1937-1938.

9Title:  Firestone Homestead Test Center Collection, 1946-1973

 Abstract:  In order to analyze new tractor tire products, the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company utilized the Firestone Farm in Ohio as a proving center. Charles Harper started working on the farm in 1948 as an assistant manager, eventually moving up to manager, where he served for 30 years. The farm, while providing a testing area for the company, also raised crops and cattle. The Firestone Homestead Test Center Collection contains 2 booklets regarding the center, circa 1960; a notebook containing copy photographs from the Homestead farm and photocopies of the 2 booklets; a copy photograph of Firestone Farm at Greenfield Village in 2005; photocopies of Firestone Farm reports from 1946, 1948, and 1954; and 6 large format photoprints or photocopies containing images of Firestone Farm in Ohio. 0.7 cubic ft.  Abstract:  Arthur T. Hopkins developed a special hose to be used by hydraulic brakes on vehicles. He attempted to work with the Huppmobile Co. in the manufacture and use of this device on their vehicles, but the deal did not come to fruition. Hopkins attempted to work with other manufacturers to produce his invention; however, B.F. Goodrich developed their own hydraulic hose that overtook the industry. The collection contains drawings for the hose, as well as some correspondence with R.C. Hupp regarding the invention and the possible deal to manufacture it. Also included are some patent records related to the hose Hopkins developed.
