| Abstract: | Rhea Mansfield Knittle was born in Ashland, Ohio, in 1883. Along with her husband Earl, she would scour the Ohio countryside looking for glass, pottery, silver, textiles, and other decorative arts antiques. Over the years, Rhea became an expert on early glass production, publishing her first magazine article in 1924 and continuing into the 1940s. The Rhea M. Knittle Collection contains research and notes on decorative arts, correspondence, photographic prints, nitrate and safety film photographic negatives, 11 glass plate negatives, approximately 20 metal plates used for printing blocks, and 55 printing blocks. The nitrate and safety film negatives are housed separately from the rest of the collection. Extent: 7.35 cubic ft. (15 boxes). The collection is open for research. | ||
