 Abstract:  The collection of Ford Motor Company production parts drawings contains approximately 600,000 drawings from the years 1909 to 1957. They consist of an almost complete set of engineering drawings for Model T, TT, A, AA and all other models from 1932 to 1957. The drawings are accessed by the part numbers as listed in the Service Parts List Manual issued by the Ford Motor Company for each vehicle. While our collection does not contain a complete set of parts manuals for all models and years, those available are located in the Automotive Product Literature collection and may be used to determine the appropriate part number.

 Abstract:  The bulk of the Ford Motor Company press releases are arranged by Division, and were mainly issued by the Midwest Public Relations Office, Missouri Valley Public Relations Office, News Department, North Central Public Relations Office and the Southwest Public Relations Office. Subjects include personnel appointments in 1952, Flora Illinois, Ford Motor Company's Fiftieth Anniversary, Ford Motor Company Fund scholarships, Industrial Arts Awards and the reenactment of the 1909 transcontinental race. Press releases from affiliated corporations are included as well, and include Ford Aerospace & Communication Corporation, Ford Motor Company Fund, Ford Motor Company of Canada Limited, Ford Motor Credit Company, and Philco Corporation. Some press releases also include accompanying photographs.

 Abstract:  Ken Wallace, Sr., worked as a photographer for the Crooks Studio in Flint, Michigan. Along with general city scenes, Wallace also took images of the local Buick Motor Co. factory and its employees, his family, and dealer showrooms. The Ken Wallace, Sr. Photograph Collection contains black-and-white photographic prints and negatives ranging in size from 4x5 to 8x10 inches. Of note are images of the Buick factory; an Armistice Day parade in Flint; a family vacation; and local firemen with Christmas toys they gathered for needy children. Also included is a copy of Buick's First Half Century, 1903-1953, an illustrated commemoration of Buick's 50th anniversary. The collection is open for research. 0.3 cubic ft. (1 box).

 Abstract:  At the end of 1999, Canadian photographer Laura McGuire collected items related to the end of the millennium and the Year 2000 problem, better known at Y2K. The Laura McGuire Millennium Collection contains photographic prints that were taken by her in the Detroit area at the end of 1999. Subjects of these prints include a water sellout, the border crossing between Detroit and Windsor, a survival supply store, and sunset at Belle Isle on New Year's Eve. Other items include a t-shirt; a book about Y2K; a special edition of The New York Times; Y2K brochures; and a newspaper clipping. Of note is a doll wearing a dress knitted by 102 year old Lottie Slomczenski which bears a note stating, "Looking forward to the Millennium to have lived in 3 centuries."  Abstract:  In the 1950s, Ford Motor Company produced a film entitled "The American Cowboy." In the film, a reporter travels from Detroit to the Roberson Hereford Ranch in Gunnison, Colorado, to research a story on modern cowboys. The reporter is surprised to see how modernization has updated many aspects of cowboy life, and yet many aspects of cowboy life remained as they had been. "The American Cowboy" Film Collection contains one reel of motion picture film, in color and with sound, and a running length of approximately 28 minutes. The collection is open for research; however, access to the original film footage is restricted. 0.6 cubic ft. (1 oversize box containing 1 reel of film).
